Monitoring in First Aid in Teaching-Learning in the Undergraduate in Physical Education

Experience Report

Abstract

Training in first aid is essential in Physical Education, considering the performance of the professional in contexts with risk of urgency and emergency. In this scenario, academic monitoring is configured as a relevant pedagogical strategy for the strengthening of the teaching-learning process. The objective of this study is to report the experience and analyze the activities developed in the monitoring of the First Aid discipline in an undergraduate course in Physical Education, highlighting the contributions of this process to the teaching-learning, both in the academic and professional training of the monitor and in the learning of the students. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, of the experience report type, developed from the experience of the monitor at the State University of Rio Grande do Norte, in the semester 2025.2. The activities involved class planning, a theoretical approach to the basic principles of first aid, application of primary and secondary evaluation protocols and Cardiorespiratory Resuscitation practices, airway clearance and blood pressure measurement. The results indicated that the articulation between theory and practice favored the learning of students, the development of technical skills and greater safety in the execution of the procedures, in addition to contributing to the improvement of the monitor's pedagogical skills. It is concluded that monitoring in First Aid is a relevant training strategy for the qualification of teaching-learning and vocational training.
