  • Fabio Contissa Independiente

Abstract

Bayer Leverkusen is a regular in European competition, always aiming for the final stages. The 2015/2016 season had a turbulent start, with the dismissal of manager Erik ten Hag. The arrival of Kasper Hjulmand injected pragmatism and improved results in both the league and the Champions League. In the Champions League, 19-year-old Cameroonian striker Christian Kofane made history by becoming the club's youngest goalscorer in the competition, netting against PSV. Although the match ended in a draw, Kofane, signed from Albacete in the summer, demonstrated his potential. His main qualities include excellent heading ability, superb speed on the counter-attack, and good tactical awareness. Kofane continues to fight for a starting position.
