Abstract

In tennis, character defines true champions, proving that talent alone is not enough without great determination. Great comebacks, when they overturn critical situations, offer the most intense and memorable moments in the sport. This article recalls five historic duels: Andy Murray vs. Fernando Verdasco (Wimbledon 2013): Murray rallied from 0-2 down in sets to win in five sets and continue his journey to the title. Rafael Nadal vs. Daniil Medvedev (Australian Open 2022): Nadal, trailing 0-2, staged an epic comeback at 35 years of age to claim his 21st Grand Slam title. Andre Agassi vs. Andrei Medvedev (Roland Garros 1999): Agassi recovered after losing the first two sets to complete the career Grand Slam. Rafael Nadal vs. Roger Federer (2008 Wimbledon): Nadal prevailed in a nearly five-hour, rain-interrupted final, winning 9-7 in the fifth set. Pete Sampras vs. Jim Courier (1995 Australian Open): Sampras overcame a 0-2 deficit in sets and profound sadness due to his coach's illness, triumphing in five sets.
