The Digital Sports Ecosystem: From Competition to Leisure and Community

  • Emilio Arrung Independiente

Abstract

Sport has transcended the playing field to integrate into a vast digital ecosystem that redefines the experience of fans and athletes. This environment connects live streams, real-time data, training apps, wearable devices, video games, betting, and online communities. The sports experience is no longer limited to the live event, but extends to preparation, post-event analysis, and constant social interaction across multiple platforms. For athletes and clubs, it offers monitoring tools and direct communication channels. For fans, it expands the ways to participate and receive information. Managing this ecosystem responsibly, safeguarding privacy and avoiding saturation, is key to enriching sports practice.
