Abstract

With the increase in content production, the originality of texts has become a crucial concern. Automated plagiarism detectors have become popular to combat plagiarism. These tools analyze texts and compare them with a database to identify similarities, generating a match report. Their advantages include time savings, the detection of unintentional plagiarism, the promotion of academic honesty, and compatibility with multiple formats. However, they also present risks such as false positives, lack of semantic context, overdependence, and data privacy issues. Therefore, responsible use is recommended, which includes manual review of reports, proper citation of sources, and complementing automated analysis with human judgment. Detectors are a valuable tool, but they should not replace professional judgment.
