The Mind as a Playing Field: Strategy and Anticipation in the Advancement of Mind Sports
Abstract
Mind sports such as chess and poker have redefined competition in the 21st century, emphasizing cognitive agility over physical strength. Chess has become a high-performance sport, with elite players training extensively and utilizing advanced software. Texas Hold'em poker is considered a decision-making science, where statistics and psychology are key. Training in these disciplines fosters neuroplasticity, improving memory and decision-making under pressure. Both games have impacted digital culture and eSports, attracting millions of viewers and players. Artificial intelligence has revolutionized preparation, offering sophisticated training tools that allow humans to hone their skills and adapt to new strategies.
